Kyle Bowman

Background

Kyle was born in Rochester, NY and has lived in Atlanta, GA and Maine. Endlessly curious with a broad array of interests, his friends say he is “always thinking of something”. He has worked as a Certified Public Accountant and content writer, but always felt most alive when he was working on a hands-on creative endeavor.

Growing up, his father routinely gave Kyle and his brothers tools for Christmas. As a boy Kyle spent time around his dad and his uncles and was inspired by how much the men were able to accomplish and fix with their own hands. He has always had a connection to Maine through relatives who grew up in Ellsworth and family who still live in the Midcoast area. So becoming a carpenter in Maine felt like a return to his family roots.

During Covid, Kyle met his wife Kez while volunteering at Chop Point camp, where she worked as the camp nurse each summer. They currently reside in Bowdoin, Maine on 20 plus acres of land.

Philosophy

Kyle enjoys designing and building creative spaces and products that bring people together. He approaches each job with an open demeanor, welcoming input from clients so he can be sure to create something that meets their unique hopes and needs. He is a wonderful combination of carpenter and artist, and he works with great care and an eye for detail.

Beliefs:

  • Artistry is the the foundation of sustainability.
  • Behind every carpenter is an artist and that artistry is often undervalued.
  • A huge part of the trade shortage is that people are building uninspiring things that aren’t valued.
  • Many of the best ideas happen in the middle of the job and it is important to be flexible.

Kyle’s philosophy is to let the robots be robots. Everyone else should be an artist in their own right.
